Isis Apprentices Graduate at UKAEA Culham
The UKAEA Apprentice Graduation Prize Giving Event 2009 focused on the importance of training the next generation, this is also the Isis ethos. UKAEA are committed to recruiting every year for their apprenticeship programme and with the assistance from Steve Barker (Group Training Manager from Isis) have developed a very intensive and comprehensive apprenticeship training programme.
Ross Brawn, of Formula 1 fame who was an ex UKAEA Harwell Apprentice presented the prizes and told how his career had developed based on much of what he learned during his apprenticeship.
James Kent who undertook his first year training as part of the Isis Bursary Scheme was also awarded the Harold Tongue Cup for the fourth year apprentice deemed to have made the most of the opportunties for learning during his apprenticeship. Craig Bayston was also awarded the Harry Wells Cup for the apprentice from any year that had shown the most improvement.
